This project was started in the year 2006 with the objective to protect and conserve the biodiversity of the Western Ghats. The major interventions under the project are save Nelliampathy, anti pesticide movements, nature study camps, trekking camps, eco clubs – association with forest department, sapling,Aasharayam Smridhi Vanam,Aashrayam Oushadhi ,Aashrayam Butterfly Garden,Disaster management,Environmental awareness (advocacy),Organic farming,Climate Smart Agriculture,Renewable energy technology,Integrated village development.
The project selects the beneficiary through various criteria such as training for students and parents, summer camp and house visit for the listed students suggested by school teachers and ward members from economically backward areas in Palakkad District.The students get trainings on Entrepreneurship Development and Skill Development in association with Dhoni Lead College of Management, Chennai Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Youth Development. They get experience in social service activities in collaboration with Devashrayam Charitable Society, Karunya Alzheimer’s Charitable Trust and Madhuvanam Trust. We are not only aiming their educational growth but also holistic development. As part of this, we are providing special training programs to them such as Career guidance, Life Skills, Personality development and counselling. It is carrying out by the experts in respective fields.
The project was started in 2016 for “Psychosocial Care and Support to Children in Conflict with Law” project initiated by Department of Women and Child Development, Kerala under the technical support of National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro sciences (NIMHANS), Banglore. And the project implemented by Aashrayam Rural Development Society in three Taluks (Chittur, Alathur and Palakkad) of Palakkad. Under the project, the individual care plan should be given to each child who is in conflict with the law. After producing the child before the Juvenile Justice Board, they would be sent to NGOs picked for the implementation of ‘Kaval’. Children would be given 17-day comprehensive training by the trained personnel.
The Project was started in 2010 to provide support to tribal community located in Palakkad District such as Cherunelly, Vazhappuzha, Karimbara etc… The project aims to improve socio-economic and nutritional status of the tribal people.
