Aashrayam Sahyadri project for making self employment to household women and children was another project: the project targeted ensured income to the families through Jasmine planting in the available space in each house. The targeted houses are of low income group with maximum of 5 cents of land. The program was supported by GA Agro PVT. LTD – an institution by a personality whom is very much supportive to such projects. The program was implemented in about 700 families in 5 panchayaths. Still many families earn from the project. The program was launched in the year 2007 -2008.

Activities on Endosulfan resulted issues in the Mango farms of Muthalamada panchayath in Palakkad district. The issue came up through our volunteers during December 2005. The focused activities continued for more than year in 2006. There was a great loss to butterflies and other life forms and resulted disability and diseases to the villagers. This was highlighted in most of the leading news papers and visual media. The ultimate result was the ban of endosulfan in Palakkad district by the District Administration. The people were made aware by the ill effects of the use of the pesticides including endosulfan was led the team members. That resulted a paradigm shift of mind set of people towards a pollution and toxic-free system of life. Many youths, farmers, students of various categories supported all the activities of Aashrayam.

The World’s largest Folk song presentation (Arangettam) happened on 23rd January 2009 at Raappadi open air auditorium, Palakkad. A total of 1463 participants from various schools, colleges, NGOs made their first stage performance of “ Naadan Paattu”. Selected team members were entrusted to lead the program even earlier since august 2008. The program was targeted only 1000 participants but it became a world record program. We have approached the Guiness book of World records to consider the activity as a new record.
